Dr. Gregory Roehrig, is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon at Orthopaedic Institute of Central New Jersey and his practice focuses on treating patients of various ages. He specializes in joint replacement surgery and arthroscopy. Dr. Roehrig received his medical degree from John Hopkins, completed his residency training at the University of Rochester/Strong Memorial Hospital, and completed his fellowship at Insall Scott Kelly Institute for Sports Medicine and Joint Replacement. In addition to his expertise as a joint specialist, Dr. Roehrig founded the “Joint Solution” the joint replacement program at Jersey Shore University Medical Center where he serves as Medical Director.

THIS EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITY provides an overview of best care practices and safety measures related to Radiation Exposure. Excess radiation exposure causes a potential threat to healthcare providers. Clinicians must be aware of measures that can be taken to reduce the amount of radiation exposure throughout their careers.

Number of Credit Hours: Hackensack Meridian Health MH designates this enduring material for a maximum of 0.50 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in this activity.

Overall Learning Objectives:

At the completion of this educational activity the participant should be able to:

1. Describe the role of Radiographic studies in the treatment of Orthopaedic patients;
2. Discuss why compliance with radiation safety measures must be adhered to when treating patients;
3. List methods that control the radiation dose to keep it “As low as reasonably achievable” (ALARA).

Method of Participation:

This internet enduring presentation is an educational video presentation. In order to receive credit, physicians must complete the entire educational activity and complete a multiple choice test at the end of the video presentation. Participants must also complete the online post-activity course evaluation form to receive credit.

Hackensack Meridian Health MH is accredited by the Medical Society of New Jersey to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Successful completion of continuing medical education courses recognized by the American Medical Association, the American Osteopathic Association or the American Podiatric Medical Association: one hour for each 60 minutes of attendance” therefore, CME credits obtained today may be used in place of nursing contact hours.
