The purpose and content
of this three hour
online course is to instruct Dental Health Care Providers (DHCP) on the current recommended and required infection prevention measures that are expected in all dental health care settings. All aspects of infection control in the dental office setting will be addressed, with one hour of the lecture devoted to emphasis on the OSHA Bloodborne Pathogen standard.
The target audience includes dentists, dental hygienists, dental assistants, students and trainees, and other persons not directly involved in patient care but who may potentially be exposed to infectious agents in the dental office. Where applicable, recommendations of the American dental Association (ADA), The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), as well as regulations of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and New Jersey state regulations will be reviewed.
Overall Learning Objectives:
The Objectives of this three hour lecture is that the course attendee/DHCP will be able to:
1. Understand the current standard of care, recommendations and regulations regarding infection prevention in the dental health care setting
2. Develop (or improve upon) an effective and acceptable infection control plan to which includes emphasis on the OSHA bloodborne pathogens standard.
3. Institute an effective and acceptable infection, prevention, control, and safety plan.
Method of Participation:
This internet enduring presentation is an educational video presentation sponsored by the Jersey Shore University Medical Center Department of Dentistry, Department of Continuing Dental Education, Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Meridian Health. In order to receive credit, participants must complete the entire educational activity and complete a multiple choice test at the end of the video presentation. in fulfilling your three (3) hour infection control training requirement for renewal of your DANB certification. At the end of this educational video presentation you will be required to complete and submit, online, a multiple choice test to receive three (3.0) hours of credit. Upon successful completion of the test , and completion of the online CE post activity evaluation form, you will be able to print a certificate awarding you three (3.0) hours of credit for the course.Accreditation
